| Summary of Issue | In 2009, CVSA added new paragraphs to brake section (1)(a) of the OOSC. Paragraphs added were: (2) Drum Air Brakes; (3) Air Disc Brakes; and,(6) Hydraulic and Electric Brakes. This left a disconnect between the paragraphs that pertained to ALL brakes (paragraphs (1), (4), (5), and (7)). |
| Justification or Need | This change would make it easier to teach inspectors how to use the OOSC. It would also make it easier to follow for current inspectors. |
| Request for Action | Request the paragraphs that pertain to \"ALL\" brakes be put at the beginning of section (a), followed by the paragraphs that pertain to specific types of brakes. Suggested order: (a)(1) Absence of effective braking action..... (a)(2) Audible air leak at air chamber....(a)(3) Missing brake on any axle required to have brakes.....
