| Summary of Issue | VOLPE programs and databases such as ASPEN, Query Central, MCMIS, etc., have limited capabilities to query a specific CVSA sticker (decal) number. For example, a sticker number may be queried using a license plate number through ASPEN, provided the inspector entered the sticker number on the report. A query can be made through SAFETYnet personnel, subsequent to a query being programmed. |
| Justification or Need | CVSA sticker query functions in VOLPE databases would allow supervisors, assigned in the boondocks, to reconcile books, identify a sticker reported lost/stolen to CVSA, agencies could provide additional training to personnel who issued a sticker to a vehicle that was in the Stolen Vehicle System at the time of inspection, detectives can use the information when building a chronology of a suspect during a criminal investigation, etc. |
| Request for Action | Request Query Central to be modified to allow commercial vehicle inspectors to query a specific CVSA sticker number. Request an additional query report in MCMIS or to allow for reconciliation of books of stickers issued to each commercial vehicle inspector. |
