| Summary of Issue | The Alliance needs to recognize the service of military personnel, and make it easier for them to regain certification after an extended tour. We feel that two paths should be offered, at the lead MCSAP agency's discretion. One is restesting and the other would be performing the minimum number of inspections to attain certification. We feel that this is covered under the Armed Forces Protection Act. |
| Justification or Need | Requiring testing means the inspector has to be retrained. If the jurisdiction is retraining this inspector, then having them retest seems double punishment, because they then have to go out and do the inspections. Essentially we are doubling what they should have to do. |
| Request for Action | We would like to see an option of either retesting or performing the inspections with a certified inspector added to Operational Policy 4. |
