| Summary of Issue | What is required to be certified and maintain the certification to perform a cargo tank/bulk packaging certification? Are the inspections of non-specification cargo tanks and/or the inspections of bulk packaging other than cargo tanks included in the count to maintain certification? |
| Justification or Need | A clarification is needed as to what type of inspections can be included to acquire and/or maintain the authority to inspect cargo tanks and bulk packages. Currently, in the Operational Policy 4, an inspector must complete at least 16 cargo tank/bulk packaging inspections, with supervision, to complete the training authorizing them to conduct CVSA Cargo Tank/Bulk Packaging Inspections. To maintain certification for cargo tank/bulk packaging inspections, an inspector must complete at least 8 cargo tank inspections. |
| Request for Action | Clarify and make consistent the requirements for acquiring and maintaining the authority for inspecting a cargo tank/bulk package. |
