| Summary of Issue | Out-of-Service Item 1.i. Tractor Protection Valve pertains to the malfunctioning of the tractor protection valve allowing air to escape through the service line. Depending on the type of tractor protection valve, air escaping through the emergency trailer supply line and no air escaping through the service line may indicate a faulty dash mounted trailer supply valve. |
| Justification or Need | The level of importance is quite high for the purpose of clarification and addressing the issue of air escaping through the trailer supply valve and not through a faulty tractor protection valve. Air escaping through a faulty trailer supply valve can have the same safety impact that air escaping through a tractor protection valve has. |
| Request for Action | Request the OOSC be amended to include the item "Trailer Supply Valve". Under this item the criteria that could be included is "inoperable or missing trailer supply valve allowing air to escape through the trailer supply line after the valve is engaged in the closed position." |
