UCR Announces July 27 Board Meeting
On July 21, the Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Plan Board of Directors announced (PDF) (opens in a new tab) a public meeting to continue its work developing and implementing the UCR Plan and Agreement. Virtual attendees can register (opens in a new tab) online. The meeting will take place on July 27.

NHTSA Requests Comments on “Examining Distraction and Driver Monitoring Systems to Improve Driver Safety” Information Collection
On July 14, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requested (PDF) (opens in a new tab) public comments on their information request on “Examining Distraction and Driver Monitoring Systems to Improve Driver Safety,” which will be part of a study to improve NHTSA’s understanding of the differences in approaches to driver state detection and the potential safety impacts of driver monitoring systems. Comments are due by Sept. 12.

NHTSA Requests Comments on Forest River Bus LLC’s Inconsequential Noncompliance Petition
On July 12, NHTSA published (PDF) (opens in a new tab) a notice announcing receipt of and requesting comments on a petition for decision of inconsequential noncompliance from Forest River Bus LLC regarding certain model year 2009-2022 Starcraft school buses that do not fully comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 222, School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection. Comments are due by Aug. 11.
