House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Passes BUILD America 250 Act; CVSA Shares Letter of Support

On May 22, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure approved the Building Unrivaled Infrastructure and Long-term Development for America's 250th Act (BUILD America 250 Act). The BUILD America 250 Act is a five-year authorization bill for surface transportation programs, including the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, and contains multiple provisions impacting commercial motor vehicle safety, including many of CVSA’s Reauthorization Policy Positions:
- Improvements to the Enforcement Training and Support Grant Program
- Improvements to FMCSA’s Motor Carrier Safety Grant Programs
- Hazardous Materials Safety Training Grant Consolidation
- Expanding CDLPI Eligibility to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands
- Minimum Qualifications for Entry as a Motor Carrier
- Improvements to the New Entrant Safety Audit Program
- Driver Proof of Exemption Requirement
- ELD Certification Process
